The group is currently recording in Vancouver with producer George Young,
brother of guitarists Angus and Malcolm Young, who produced several of the
band's early efforts, including 1976's High Voltage, 1977's Let
There Be Rock, and 1981's Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap (originally released
in Europe in 1976), among others.
AC-DC has been leisurely recording at the Bryan Adams-owned Warehouse
Studio since June. Sources close to the band say they're only now tracking
the vocals.
However, if the current rumor is to be believed, the album will have to be
finished soon. While they're not listed on the initial lineup of acts,
Kerrang magazine has AC/DC pegged for an appearance at Australia's giant
Big Day Out festival tour that gets underway in mid-January. Those who are
confirmed include headliners the Red Hot Chili Peppers as well as Nine
Inch Nails, Blink 182, Primal Scream, Chemical Brothers, Joe Strummer And
The Mescaleros, Spiderbait, Yothu Yindi, Grinspoon, Magic Dirt, Shihad
Honeysmack,and Chunky Move Dance Company."

New Book - Get your jumbo jet out of my airport (Random notes for AC/DC Obsessives) by Howard Johnson Released by The Black Book Company Monday 21st June 1999 AC/DC are reported to be in a Canadian studio with George Young and working on the new album. Brian Johnson however is reported to be resting at home while the rest of the band continue work. Maximum Overdrive producer , Horror writer and avid AC/DC fan Stephen King had his own horror to deal with this weekend when he was knocked down by a car near his home in Maine. The writer was out walking when a motorist lost control of his Dodge van and plowed into him. 51 year old King is in a serious but stable condition at Central Maine Medical Center and is suffering from a broken leg and lacerations to the head. He was thrown about 14 feet by the collision. The impact smashed the van's windshield and dented the right front corner of the vehicle. The motorist was not speeding but said he lost control because of his dog which was loose inside. King will not be filing charges. More recent reports state that King is thankfully on the mend. Marilyn Manson's cover of the AC/DC classic "Highway To Hell" has been tapped as the first single from the upcoming "Detroit Rock City" soundtrack Manson joins Everclear, The Donnas, Drain STH, and Kiss on the soundtrack to the upcoming film, which opens in August. The soundtrack is also likely to be available in the shops in August
Fairbairn handled production for albums by Aerosmith, Van Valen, the Cranberries, Kiss, Bon Jovi, INXS, AC/DC, and for his own group Prism, which enjoyed a string of Canadian hits in the '70s. At the time of his death, Fairbairn was completing production for a new studio album by Yes at his Vancouver-based studio, the Armoury. Fairbairn is survived by his wife, Julie Glover, and sons Scott, Kevin, and Brent.
