Brian Johnson was quoted as saying in Italian music magazine "Rock Hard" that the next album will include "harder" riffs than what appeared on their last studio album Stiff Upper Lip. The magazine also stated that this time around Brian Johnson will be writing the lyrics again.
Former short-term drummer with AC/DC , Ron Carpenter has been exploring the use of digital technology to make music. Carpenter has devised a 3-D system of live music performance he calls Plex which he plans to demonstrate at the music trade show "ENTECH (Entertainment Technology) 2004" in Sydney in April. Carpenter was recently quoted in an artricle featured in the Sydney Morning Herald as saying that he quit AC/DC in 1974 as he thought the band would get nowhere playing covers of other musicians' songs. James Griffiths of The Guardian recently reviewed AC/DC's double DVD box set. (Here is a copy of the review) This box-set packages together two different shows by the Antipodean rock goliaths, one from their most recent Stiff Upper Lip tour and another from 1996. The set lists are not greatly different, the packaging is minimal and the extra features are barely worth mentioning. On the positive side, you do get a big dollop of live surround-sound AC/DC, complete with giant bronze Angus Young statues, huge chiming bells with Brian Johnson hanging off them, and canons firing all over the place. Rolling Stones the greatest rock'n'roll band in the world? Don't believe a word.
Paintbox - "Getting Ready for Love" This Vanda/Young pseudonym track from 1970 is included on a various artists CD "94 Baker Street Songs - Songs Of Apple Publishing" (RPM270)
