AC/DC Archive News July 2000 - December 2000

Wednesday 27th December 2000
Courtney Love former wife of the Late Kurt Cobain has reportely backed AC/DC as she blasted the organisers behind the Hall of Fame and demanded the return of memrobelia relating to Kurt Cobain.

"How dare you fools not put Lynyrd Skynyrd, Patti Smith, or AC/DC in your Hall of Fame," Love reportedly wrote in a telegram sent to the rock hall. "Damn you to the darkest belly of the underworld. Stop.

"Any of my stuff you stole, I want back immediately. This includes any of mine or Kurt's clothes, guitars or debris that you scavenged for. I hope that no one I know is ever inducted into your idiotic 'Hall of Fame.'"

Phoenix Gig Incident
Angus strolled to the left side of the stage, someone threw an empty beer cup at him. Angus then taunted the fan to throw one at his face by pointing to his own chin. The fan obliged hitting directly in the face and covering him and his Gibson SG in beer (Angus took off his guitar and gave it to his guitar tech). Angus motioned for the fan to come to him upfront, when the fan did Angus grabbed and twisted the fan's nose and threw a punch at him. The fan tried to retaliate but was overwhelmed by security and "escorted" off the premises."

We don't need fans like this......

Thanks to Don B for the report.

FIRE IT UP, BOYS
AC/DC gives a hilarious account of their new live show in the current issue of Rolling Stone magazine, where the guys admit they were a bit nervous after hitting the road for the first time in five years. "Me a** is twitching like a rabbit's nose" jokes frontman Brian Johnson. But a return of the legendary AC/DC cannons onstage is making Brian and company feel more at home.

"I get a buzz when I see those babies go off," says Johnson. The newest addition to the massive stage adornments is a 40 foot statue of Angus Young himself, complete with electrified eyes and goat horns. One prop from the old days you will not see on the current tour is the giant breasts that appeared during previous renditions of "Sink The Pink." Brian tells Rolling Stone they decided to axe that special effect: "I always had a half-ton tit - just hovering over me - head! I had nightmares for months, me son!"

Veteran rockers AC/DC have announced they will play five dates in the UK at the end of this year.

The band have been reported as stating that they were not entirely happy with the recent VH-1 Behind the scene special on the band.
Brian Johnson says the group hated the show.

''I didn't like it. It was terribly done - bloody awful,'' says Johnson, who felt the show was sensationalized. As examples, he cited how the producers spent a half-hour on the overdose death of former AC/DC singer Bon Scott and dwelled on a serial killer who was a fan and focused on a tragic accident in 1991 at an AC/DC concert in Salt Lake City when three fans died after being crushed in the crowd.

U.S. District Judge Lesley Brooks Wells issued a restraining order this week to prevent vendors from selling bootleg merchandise with the AC/DC logo outside Gund Arena.

The company said in court documents that it holds the license to use the band’s name, likeness and trademark on items sold at AC/DC concerts.
