AC/DC Radio program scheduled for BBC World Service On Monday 24th May BBC World Service turns the volume up to 11 with AC/DC, whose classic riffs and heavy rocking ways have seen them at the top of the rock tree for 30 years. With rare interviews from their legendary frontman Bon Scott, who died in 1980, we trace their early years, from playing wild bars round Australia, on to conquering the world with 'Highway To Hell'. After Scott's death, the band swiftly replaced him with gravel voiced Geordie Brian Johnson, to record 'Back In Black', which for may is THE all-time rock classic, and is one of the biggest selling records of all time. AC/DC remain one of the most popular live acts, and we hear just how they keep on producing rock classics... The programme will be repeated 4 times throughout the day, times are specific to each country, (9.30am 1.30pm and 6.30pm in UK) more details on world service website inc details on how to listen wherever you are. the programme will also be on demand online for a week (in the music feature section on the ws website).

Eat Cat 2 Promotions in association with Eventertainment presents: a mad weekend of partying featuring ten AC/DC tribute bands from across the world. After the Friday and Saturday shows there will also be an aftershow party until 2am, at which Steve “Krusher” Joule will DJ. The main event will take place in the specially dressed venue on the Campus, where the bands will perform on a replica of AC/DC`s touring stage circa 1980, designed especially for the occasion, complete with ramps around the rear of the stage and a catwalk out front, on which all the Anguses can strut their stuff! Headlining the event will be Dave Evans from Australia, the original AC/DC singer and founding member (pre Bon) backed up by Welsh tribute Seedy/DC. This will be Dave`s first visit to Wales in 30 years (he`s originally from Carmarthen) and he will be taking a break from a European tour to appear. There will be two bands from America: Hayseed Dixie: a hillbilly tribute from Nashville and AC/Dshe: a female tribute from San Francisco. Both of these bands will be making their first UK appearances at this event. From the UK will be: AB/CD - MTV`s “Highway To Fame” competition winners back in the early `90`s, being voted the closest sounding band to AC/DC by the band themselves. Hells Bells: the Bristol based tribute, who include two cannon and a replica “Hells Bell” in their show, AC/DO from Burnley, Dirty/DC from London, Back In Black from Newcastle and event hosts: Seedy/DC. Also appearing, from Germany: Hole Full Of Love. The whole event is hosted by celebrity OZZFEST MC - Steve “KRUSHER” Joule who will also be running some daft games in-between bands.. if you come dressed as a band member...you`ll be asked to join in! Tickets are available now from the website. Day tickets ( access to gig / exhibition / record fair ) are on sale now: Friday £14-00 / Sat £35-00 / Sun £21-00. A full 3-day GOLD PASS costs £85-00 (exclusive entry to the Friday / Saturday aftershow parties and industry talks is with this ticket only). There are only 300 of these tickets, due to individual venue capacity. Children above the age of 12 will be welcomed, but will not be allowed access to the aftershow party. Please note: tickets are severely limited as this is an indoor event and are selling quickly. All purchases are subject to a booking fee. The website provides details of local accommodation in Wrexham during the event. The halls of residence at the University will cater for 300, there is camping close to the event and various additional student halls, hotels and guest houses within easy reach of the venue are available. There has never been a convention for AC/DC fans on a scale as large as this before and we hope to make it an annual event with a “Worldwide Battle Of The Bands” a featured competition. Visit the website at www.acdcconvention.co.uk for further information, tickets and regular updates, as details are confirmed.
