AC/DC - Carling Apollo 21st October 2003

Soundcheck

News of the Soundcheck by AC/DC fan Oddy

I was at the gig, but as I would run out of superlatives, there is no way I can attempt to review it!

However, I would like to thank Brian on behalf of all those (around 30 including me) lucky enough to attend Monday's sound-check for meeting, greeting, hugging, posing(for photos of course!) and signing during a half hour chat along the pit.

Many of you who marvelled at his performance on Tuesday may not be aware of what a challenge it was for him, and will join me in questioning the dedication and constitution of frontmen half his age who see fit to cancel gigs at the merest hint of a wheeze....

Brian, flat-capped and wrapped up ambles to the front of the stage, squats between the wedges and lands(on his feet) with a bump in front of us at the stage barrier.....

Brian: "Hoo's the gang then, y'alreet!? (cough, splutter, COUGH, SPLUTTER!)

Us: "er Great Bri'....Jesus, how're you?

Brian: "Fookin' shite lads, av oonly gat wun lung like...had dee utha drained of water, ee an' it's fookin' killin' me an that"

...continues - " ah asked the doctuur if a cud sing a bit on tuesday with a few mates like - an' e says, 'ay ye, maybe,.. if ya don't strain yerself and... tek it easy like'...

...ah said to him..."tek it easeh?..hoo can ah tek it easeh?!"...

. "AM IN F**KIN' AC/DC MAN!!!!!!!

US: rapturous laughter...(what a star etc)

Report from the AC/DC's soundcheck on the tracks played.

from what I remember it TNT; Gone Shootin'; Hard as Rock; Thunderstruck and I think 2 others -all in, half a dozen praticed over 1 hour with necessary 5 minute breaks between. Apparently the singer/actor Jimmy Nail was spotted chatting with Brian.

Thanks to Oddy
