Chicago Show... Arrived at The World Music Theatre at about 6:15. On a side not, while driving there, we passed a guy with the liscense plate "TTT 390" and another with "TVOLK" which I found pretty odd. Walked around for about an hour, picked myself up a program and the Satellite Blues galaxy shirt. Finally, Slash came on. They seemed alright for the first few songs, then just got on my nerves. Don't get me wrong - Slash himself is cool and all, but as for the singer? Well (no offense Rattus) let's just say I've met cooler dead moths. Slash exited at about 8:10. 8:35 rolls around, and what do you know, the trustee roadie comes out and introduces them to the packed house (literally not an empty seat - not even the lawn seat. In some cases, there were more than one person per seat.) They break into YSMANL, and for the first few lines, Brian's voice was a bit off, which worried me. However, for the entire show following the first two lines, his volice was literally flawless - which was most shocking during songs like SB. The Thunderstruck intro was extended a few bars, so the "thunder" chant was extended. As far as "The Jack" is concerned, it seemed as though not a single person in the place (besides myself) was singing along. I suppose it's too hard to pay attention to words AND tv screens at the same time. Anyway, that's all that seemed different than the other eviews I've read. Seeing as though my eyes and ears have now been exposed to live 'DC, I will go as far as to say if John Lennon were to rise from the grave, the Beatles themselves wouldn't be able to parallel these guys (and that's saying alot, as I like the Beatles as much as 'DC. Just my opinon.) The show ends at 10:30 on the dot, and the parking lot is packed. I figure, 'might as well wait around here for an hour or so rather than wait in my car in the parking lot for an hour and a half.' So we wait, and get told to leave 4 times by the fruity security guards (not that there's anything wrong with that....) After the fourth threat, they realized we were some of the Die-hards, so to speak, so they let us stay. 11:45, Bus comes rolling around with none other than the almighty Phil Rudd. He just smiled, waived, and yelled "hope you had a good time" and then just kept driving. 5 minutes later, Malcolm's bus comes driving by and does pretty much the same thing. 5 minutes later, Angus and co come cruisin' by, and of course, the bus doesn't stop, seeing as though I was only one of 5 people waiting. Therefore, we had to hunt 'em down. We had to drive back to Rockford the same route that they were taking to Indiana, so we were driving neck and neck with his bus for about 10 minutes (he looked out the window, saw what we were wearing, saluted us, waived, gaves us thumbs up, and that was it. My goal in life has almost been accomplished. BTW, Same exact setlist as previous shows.
