Classic Rock Cares 15th July |

I went to the classic rock cares show at BB kings Sunday night and let
me say that Brian was awesome. The show started with Joe Lynn Turner
and he was good, he seems to be stuck in the 80's though (he kept
reminding me of Steve Perry). He went through a set of some good
songs: Smoke on the water, stone cold, woman from Tokyo, shooting
star, hush and highway star. Mark Farner was up next, he was very good. Some of the songs that he played: Some kind of wonderful, locomotion, I'm your captain, bad time for being in love, do you want to?. He's got some singing voice, very good guitar player as well. Brian Johnson and Cliff were last. Let me just say that the entire room did not stop jumping and singing along the entire set. Brians voice was unbelieveable. He had tons of energy as well, running all over the place, jumping around and playing lots of air guitar. They tore through a great set with songs like BIB, RNRANP, TNT, Thunderstruck, FTATR, YSMANL, Given the dog a bone, DDDDC, HTH. During the show in between songs Brian was very funny and said quite a few interesting things. Before the band played a new song he said "We just wrote this song so that you wouldn't think we were being a bunch of lazy bastards". Brian just looked like he was having such a great time up there, a couple of times during the set he grabbed a bottle of water, looked at it, then quickly grabbed a beer instead. He kept thanking the crowd during the show and said something like "I really thank you from the bottom from my heart and believe me I really hope that we can get the ball rolling on this, I really do" I'm guessing this was aimed at the stalled new album. Brian and Cliff hugged at the end of the show, very touching :) Something wierd after the show. Me and my friends stuck aroung for a little while afterwards outside next to the bands tour bus hoping to meet Brian and Cliff. Well the bus driver was being hassled ny NYPD whe were telling him that he either move the bus or it would be towed! He kept saying that he was waiting for the band but the sarge didn't seem to care. He wrote the bus a ticket or two and grew very impatient. I love the NYPD, but things like this make you wonder if maybe thier time could be better well spent doing something else rather that busting a tour bus drivers balls. Anyway, just a great night overall. This whole experience has just made me even more impatient waiting for the band to get back together and tour. Hopefully soon. Review by angusboom
