Review by Loud Thunder (LoudThunder@hotmail.com) what a rocking evening, ladies and gentlemen... First off I must say that the crowd was really into the band and the tunes (for obvious reasons we all know) ... the band had awesome energy which I was quite surprised seeing that they just did 2 nites in Toronto... YSMANL was the first tune, and they played SINYC and not GIH... which was fine in my books... I didn't see too many cameras but there sure was a hell of a lot of Pot smoking... Dave would have been in heaven (assuming he didn't make the Ottawa show)... we were 6 rows up from the floor and my brother and his seat neighbour were smokin up something fierce right in front of security yet no troubled had ensued... they just didn't seem to care as long as things were under control... The show was loud as usual and Brian's voice was just awesome... I'm sure that was the best I've heard him live in concert... His singing really only become monotone for the last tune FTATR where you could see him straining the vocal chords ... Brian missed the timing of the second verse (honey you can do it... do it to me all night long) of WLR... he thought it was solo time and I was thinking wait this just doesn't sound right and the band played a few bars (at least 4) of rhythm waiting for Brian to jump in... Malcolm was staring at Brian and Brian was looking at Angus 'wondering where the solo is' and Angus was looking directly at Brian... and then Brian came in for the verse... it was a very excellent cover up and I'm sure only die hards really caught that... other than that... the band was near perfect IMO.. FYI: During the Jack a friend went to get us some beers and the Corel Centre had run dry at several concession stands... this doesn't even happen in hockey games(?) Beer drinking was a plenty, even outside where beer drinking was allowed at your car, therefore hordes of fans had coolers full of beer for before and after the show. Prior to the show we were outside having some pints, and we certainly were not the only ones that missed the opening act... sorry Slash but there's no comparison to the greatest rock-n-roll band... After the lights went on after FTATR the centre was full of smoke from the pyros and dubes, and smokes... and the cheering started in the halls and out the doors of the building. Clearly, the crowd showed their appreciation that they had gotten their monies worth. Meeting the Band Seeing that I had already gotten autographs and photos with the band in '83 (Flick of the Switch tour) in Montreal, my brother was determined to get autographs from the band. I had told him to look for the Bolt on the plate of the bus (someone mentioned this in a previous post). Well I guess Malcolm is reading the Newsgroup posts for according to my bro Brian and Cliff were on the first bus that went through, Phil and Malcolm were on another and Angus was solo on another bus ... Within the first of 2 hours that my brother stayed after the show, Phil came off a bus and signed his Program and the inside of a pack of smokes... 2 girls wanted Phil to sign their titties yet Phil being such a gentlemen said he would sign anything but the female anatomy... Malcolm didn't come off the bus... Brian and Cliff's bus did not stop, they just waved... when Angus's bus came along it stopped and my bro was first in line to get his autograph... there were about sixty or so people waiting for the guitar gods' signature yet he only signed about half, if that... My brother's determination sure paid off... he's a happy camper Now I will be off to Montreal for show # 2...
