The design of the unique AC/DC Custom Motorbike.
Update - July 2008
Please note - Colin no longer works with West Coast Harley.
Colin and 3 friends set up their own Custom Bike Shop, Area 51 Custom Cycles Limited in March 2007

Colin Rutherford of Glasgow's West Coast Harley-Davidson, is the man behind the coolest looking Motorbike on the planet.
Colin has kindly written a few words about the design process of making the unique AC/DC custom bike.Below is Colin's words on the making of the AC/DC bike. I have sent you the spec sheets used to promo ACDC at the time it was launched in march of this year (2005). The reason behind the build was a customer inquiry as to see if this build would be possible , as he is a major AC/DC fan he spoke about a paint job but this be to easy and would not have the same effect so I came up with the idea of replicating the SG across the bike which gave me a major headache. Being a big AC/DC fan myself this was built with passion , we purchased a SG copy and duly broke it up and used it for templates , so as to keep the guitar in proportion , we used the AC/DC logo in the seat to break up the length of the neck as it was visibly to long , and it works .. the amp on the side under the tank was actually a small practice amp that I stripped out and used as a coil cover ,the obvious colour for this bike was black, so with that in mind back in black was the only name it could be and it was in my way a tribute to Bon. This bike is on show at bigger music on Sauchihall Street Glasgow for a short time for anyone wanting to see it in the flesh. we have built several other tribute bikes since, the latest being Wallace , and we seem to be getting a reputation for building theme bikes , the more the merrier our website is www.westcoastharley.com anyone out there wanting to have something built to there theme email me at colin@westcoastharley.com and we can talk budget and build time cheers for now. Colin

AC/DC Take one look at our West Coast HD Custom No 11 and weep. No it can’t be yours! It already belongs to someone, so please be respectful that this is one man’s pride and joy, keep it fingerprint free. Recently completed for the Scottish Motorcycle Show, we are proud to be able to state that this is Colin’s best custom work yet. With a straight from Hell attitude, “Back in Black” is a tribute (obviously) to the legend that is AC/DC. With due respect and admiration for Bon Scott, the original front man, “Back in Black” pays out that deference in spades. Fire it up and the roar from the LA Chopper pipes lays down a riff that Angus would be hard pressed to stay with on his Gibson SG.
