July 2004

A few notes about the recording of Sinner thanks to Mac (Steve 'Mac' McLennan)

The sessions took place over the 2004 Easter break in Newcastle, NSW, Australia...home of Dave's post AC/DC band...RABBIT. (We recorded a track called "Sinner" on Good Friday!?!?)

Dave was joined by former RABBIT guitarists Dave Hinds & Mark Tinson (who as well as playing guitar was at the mixing console). As this is a big guitar rock record (No synthesisers, keyboards, vocoders, loops or click tracks) some extra guitar players were called in. Trevor Dare, Justin Ngariki Bolth and Simon Croft all contributed scorching guitar parts to the mix. Ngariki doubled as bass player. I (MAC) was hitting the drums.

It was an absolute pleasure to work on a recording with guys I had idolised as a kid in the 70s and I am very proud to have contributed in some small way to the on going work of a man who was instrumental in the way in which Australian rock music has developed over the past few decades.

I dont want to say too much about the album....when its released you'll hear it loud and clear...so Ill let the music stand on its own merits...suffice to say its a raucous rock'n'roll record that I am very proud to be part of. Dave Evans lives and breathes ROCK N ROLL. He is a true original.

Best wishes...MAC
