AC/DC , SECC, Glasgow
Review by Rab Christie.
Glasgow Taken from The Herald www.theherald.co.uk Monday 4th December 2000.

On tour in America, the word that rock's bright young things Travis moved on from covering Britney Spiers
to launching into AC/DC's Back in Black. And what does Britney have in common with guitar legend Angus Young ?
They both shot to fame by wearing a school uniform.

Still donning the old school tie, Angus began battering out the forever fresh-sounding You Shook me all night long,
While Geordie vocalist Brian Johnson rasped the double entendres. The guitars were powered up, the lyrics dumbed down, and the audience
revived the lost-art of head-banging.

Those unable to keep up with Angus bouncing across the stage could catch a close-up on the jumbo video screen, or alternatively
check out the 30ft statue of the guitarist wheeled on after the opening number.

It set the tone for an evening of outrageous props. Speaker stacks shot out flames during Highway to Hell, the donging of an oversized bell heralded the opening to Hells Bells
and believe it or not, a gigantic inflatable woman clad in pink underwear cavortyed in time to Whole Lotta Rosie.

The mood got even steamier when Angus stripped to his school shorts. Two days after St Andrews's night the Glasgow-born Aussie performed his own tribute by revealing a saltire
on the back of his boxers.

But this night belonged to St Angus - the patron saint of hot rock riffs. The guitarist surely shattered the venue's record for notes-per-minute as his axe wailed through a tower of amplifiers all cranked up to 11.

AC/DC's blend of old-school rock performed by an ancient schoolboy-inspired mayhem in an audience that had long since left their schooldays behind them. On the way out, I stared at a curious looking
print on a bloke's white T-shirt. "It's a footprint mate," he told me.
