Hockenheim 10th June 2001 Review
Rough translation from a german news page at www.yahoo.de 67 000 fan with skirt party in Hockenheim
The spectacular Buehnenshow of Leadgitarrist Angus Young and its four Kompagnons with giant bell, claps of thunder and locking fireworks let the visitors in the Sunday evening the wet-cold drizzling weather forget. Before the dead trousers had already heated properly as vorgruppe the public. Since well a quarter century AC/DC is on the stage and for 20 years in unchanged occupation. In the loud musical concept and to the Buehnenshow since then changed little - with a AC/DC concert one knows, what one has. Also in Hockenheim those pleased tape their public with 20 of years old hit like " Hell's Bells ". Naturally there also a few new Songs of the current album was " Stiff Upper Lip " - seventeenth that the tape. For the 70's the maintained high point of each AC/DC Show could not be missing likewise: From " Angus, Angus" calls angefeuert, the guitarist under hot rhythms peeled itself slowly from its traditional stage Outfit, a school uniform. In the end it presented proudly white pants with Germany flag to the jubilant fans. Singer Brian Johnson did not keep close contact to the public and had a trouble to induce the dancing and singing quantity to going through. According to specification of the organizer a AC/DC Show uses 2500 kilowatts current. The fans honored it their skirt heroes with do not end to want-wanting that rejoicing and applause. Also the dead trousers were celebrated by the fans. The spectators sang hits like " one for everything " and above all " I became never Bavaria Munich gehn " loudly also. A good hour long went on the 60 meters spreads stage of the Punk off - no longer quite as rotzig as in former times, but also the experienced operational sequence did not absorb the joy and enthusiasm of the fans. (further dates of the AC/DC route: Munich (14.6.), Lausitzring (16.6.), Hanover (17.6), Nuernberg (29.6), Hamburg (1.7), Kaeoeln (8.7.).
In German.
It was the best show ever. The playlist seemed to be the same then in MK. Angus and Brian had a lot of fun, too. Brian threw his hat to the crowd while hanging on the bell. Angus stole him the new one while playing "The Jack", (I guess). It was great to hear "Up to my neck.." and "What do you.." WOW !!! The best performance was on "The Jack" with 75.000 people singalong and raising there hands and LTBR, of course. At LTBR Angus walked down the catwalk to this platform and got up to the tower where this big lights were and walk around it playing with the crowd. JUST AWESOME!! That catwalk was about 150mtrs long (450 yards ??!) and Brian ran it up three or four times. I saw AC/DC last year in October in Stuttgart, GER but this time the band, the show, the people were much better. Should I go to see them in Nuremberg (Nürnberg) in about 3 weeks?? Well I think so. Milton Keynes/Hockenheim review I've done the Milton Keynes and Hockenheim Show ! For milton keynes, i think that there's nothing else to say ;)) : the best show i've ever seen (i saw them 5 times before) But how many was we ? (i think 50 000 but ...) For the hockenheim show we were 67 000 ! The stage was much bigger than Milton Keynes because there weren't limited by the place, and the light show was better too (perhaps because they came later) ! The public in Milton Keynes was better than Hockenheim and the show in hockenheim was VERY GOOD , but i think that the Milton Keynes show was more "magic" !
