AC/DC Latest News
5th February – 31st May 2009 at Proud Camden London England
In celebration of AC/DC’s world tour, Proud Camden presents AC/DC: Let There be Rock– a photographic portrait of a band so prolific their sales figures rank second only to the Beatles. This exhibition will take place to coincide with the UK culmination of the arena tour, and marks the anniversary of the original singer Bon Scott’s untimely death.
In reaction to the reception AC/DC have received throughout their career, Proud Camden will look not at the musical super power as they are today, but instead at a young AC/DC, a band who themselves could not have predicted the phenomenal worldwide success they were to achieve.
Shot through the lens of celebrated rock photographer Philip Morris, this collection shines new light on members of the original line-up, including unseen images of the late Bon Scott alongside his iconic band mates. In his career as a rock photographer Morris has amassed an unrivalled archive of Australian rock photography, this will be the first time these images are showcased in the UK and includes images not previously seen anywhere in the world.
An absolute must for fans of AC/DC old and new, this is the only chance to see the definitive exhibition of a band whose influence is unwavering at a time of huge importance to both the band and their followers.

Australian TV recently showed a six part series in which renowned cartoonist and portrait painter Bill Leak paints six well known Australians.
One of episodes Bill painted a potrait of Bon Scott.
More details
The yet-to-be titled movie is in its early stages. “We’ve been working heavily on it for a couple of months. It’s early days,” Martin tells Undercover News. “We are in the writing process. We’ve been meeting with Gaby, Mary, Irene and The Valentines crew, people like Vince Lovegrove, Bon’s early friends”. (Irene was Bon’s former wife).
Eddie says he is still looking for people from the era who knew Bon. “It is at research stage,” he says.
Casting is also being considered. Tom Budge (Three Dollars, Australian Rules, The Night We Called It A Day) is the front-runner for the part of Angus Young but Bon is still to be cast. “We have been considering casting and we are not going to contain this to Australia,” he says.
One of the things that has come out in his research is that despite the numerous books written about AC/DC, he feels no-one has actually nailed the real story yet. “Obviously we have gone through most of them, but talking to Bon’s friends they aren’t happy with the books and feel they have been misrepresented. We want to go much deeper with the movie,” he says.
The person Eddie is desperate to find went by the nickname Silver. “She is definitely the one person we want to find,” he says. “She was an Adelaide girl who lived with him in London after he broke up with Irene”.
It will be a number of years before we see the Bon Scott movie on the big screen. “We’d love to be shooting in 12-18 months,” Eddie says.
Ronald Belford ‘Bon’ Scott was born on July 9, 1946 and died on February 19, 1980.
Bon was born in Scotland and the family migrated to Australia in 1952.
Bon formed his first band The Spektors in 1964. Next came The Valentines, then Fraternity, and in 1974, he joined AC/DC, replacing original singer Dave Evans.
Bon died before ever really reaping the rewards that AC/DC would later bring. At the time of his death, the current album at the time, ‘Highway To Hell’ was just reaching Top 20 status in the USA.
Bon Scott was 33 when he departed the planet. He died after a night of drinking in a car outside 67 Overhill Road in East Dulwich in South London.

AC/DC Not playing T in the Park
Festival chiefs deny newspaper rumours
T In The Park chief Geoff Ellis has released a statement denying that AC/DC will play a headline slot at next year's bash.
Rumours that the Australian band will headline started after a newspaper reported that the rockers had been signed up to play at the Scottish festival.
The Sun had claimed today (November 25) that the band had signed a "top secret" deal to headline T, although Ellis has warned that fans expecting to see Angus Young and co will be disappointed.
"I can confirm that AC/DC will not be playing at T In The Park 2009," he said in a statement.

AC/DC Out Sell The Beatles was a top story for this week. Here it is again: (Sony) 2008 is shaping up to be a year of firsts for AC/DC. Ice memories for AC/DC's Angus Young AC/DC guitarist Angus Young has told how the title of their new album was inspired by his native Scotland. The Aussie supergroup will shoot straight to No. 1 tonight with Black Ice. Angus, who formed the band with brother Malcolm, says the title reminds him of early days gigging in winter. The pair were brought up in Cranhill, Glasgow, before emigrating in 1963. Angus said: "It rolled off the tongue - it remindsme of radio warnings up north of black ice. It was deadly stuff." Singer Brian Johnson feared the album would not happen after an eight year gap since their last release. But he added: "On the first track the hairs on my arms stood up. I thought, 'is this a good band or what?'" Source http://www.sundaymail.co.uk

AC/DC Help Find US Soldier In Prison
by Paul Cashmere Speaking to motortrend.com, Johnson tells how soldier Michael Durant asked for permission to use the lyrics of the song in his book. He was a pilot who was shot down in Somalia and later consulted for the book 'Black Hawk Down'. At motortrend.com, Brain says, “I said, 'Surely, but why would you do that?' 'Brian, they threw me in prison, my legs were broken, and they kept opening the door and shooting at me. That was terrifying. I sat there thinking, I'm going to die. My buddies back in the helicopter squadron hooked some huge speakers to the skids of the helicopter and flew over the city, playing 'Bambababam! ['Hells Bells']. They knew it was my favorite song. I crawled to the window, ripped my shirt off, waved it out the window. That's how they found me.' I still get goosebumps when I think about it," Johnson says. Johnson was a recent guest of Howard Stern’s radio show. One listener called in afterwards to say that when he was on a tour of duty, they would play ‘Highway To Hell’ before going on a dangerous mission. Johnson also told motortrend.com how he had heard that the CIA has been known to use ‘Back In Black’ as a weapon. "Someone said the CIA have AC/DC in the weapons inventory. When they got Noriega out of the building, they played 'Black in Black' till it drove him mad. Out in the desert when the Imams go ([Johnson pretends to chant], the troops just go [and he belts those first few power chords of 'Back in Black'] on the loudspeakers. You know what I mean?" AC/DC’s Black Ice is out now.

We will know next week what the title of the new AC/DC album will be but 'Black Ice' looks like a front-runner at the moment. AC/DC have three titles being considered for the album, another one being 'Runaway Train', Albert Music's Danny Keenan confirms for Undercover News. Keenan says that we should know in the next week what the band would officially decide on. Albert Music CEO Tim Prescott will head to New York for meetings over the AC/DC release next week. Danny Keenan says he has heard half the album but did not hear a song called 'Black Ice'. If it is being used as a title track then it may have been one of the later tracks recorded for the album. 'Black Ice/Runaway Train/insert third title here' will be the 15th studio album from AC/DC and their first since 'Stiff Upper Lip' in 2000. The album was recorded in Canada at Bryan Adams studio with Brendan O'Brien. Sony BMG says the album will be released this year. Keenan suggests we may hear the album as soon as October. by Paul Cashmere undercover.com.au

Rock tribute to AC/DC star Scott An Angus town is celebrating its place in rock history, with events dedicated to one of its most famous sons. The third annual Bon Scott Weekend is being held in Kirriemuir. A number of young bands will be playing along with an AC/DC tribute and rock covers band. Scott was born in the town in 1946 but moved to Australia when he was six and later became the singer with AC/DC. He died of alcohol poisoning in 1980, aged 33, after a night of heavy drinking in London. Two years ago, a plaque was unveiled in Kirriemuir dedicated to the frontman. Victoria Melton, one of the organisers of the event, said: "Bon Scott is one of Kirriemuir's sons, and what better a man to pay tribute to. "He's been a huge influence to a lot of people all over the world. "We feel that he always remembered his roots and he had a strong character." Her colleague Steven Gibbons added: "He's the singer that the band had that everyone talked about. He's obviously quite an important icon in rock music. "Everyone who plays any rock influenced music, they can't really ignore the influence that AC/DC have had, especially the Bon Scott era music, which was really powerful, and it's still as powerful today as it was back then." Here is a report that appeared online at www.spinner.com Australian hard rock icons AC/DC are getting closer to ending an eight-year drought of new music. "God, I'm ready," bassist Cliff Williams, who was in L.A. to participate at the Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp, tells Spinner. To that end, the group will hit the studio March 1. Almost as long as the wait for new music is the band's absence from the stage. Tour plans, however, aren't as firm. "If we go out again or when we go out again," Williams said. "You just never know. We've been around a long time, so we're going to get together and get in the studio and I fully expect we will [tour.]. I don't mean to be so negative about that. [When] the last tour ended in early '01, you'd see kids on their dads' shoulders. And these kids were like 10, 12 years old. It will be tremendous to see that again. And it's very cool -- younger kids getting into older music."
