Nissan Review

Nissan Pavilion Rocked

Man it was so fucking loud, my ears are still ringing two hours after the show. I think I was sitting too close. I took about 25 pictures with a disposable camera, I hope they turn out alright and I will post them for everyone to see. I can't quit remember the setlist, but they opened with what seemed like an abbreviated ysmanl, they also played satellite blues and sinyc.

SINYC and DDDDC are some of the standouts for this show, they sounded great. On TNT, when Angus begins the opening chant he was out of rhythm with the rest of the band but on the third one he picked it back up.

Brian was all over the place, and during the The Jack about three girls flashed the camera and it came up on the big screen, one even started licking hers, like in some kind of porno movie. Brian was like "What the hell.." (he didn't actually say that but that was his expression).

Well, it was one hell of a show, definitely worth the money. Slash's Snakepit was pretty good, there singer reminded me of Paul Stanley for some reason. T-shirts where $35, Tour programs where $18, they had jerseys for $50 and a jacket for $300! I got a nice poster on the way out for ten bucks.

Man I can't wait to see if they will play here in summer 01'.

last night's show (Bristow, VA) kicked ass.

Same setlists as earlier I assume ? With Get It Hot replaced by SINYC ?

I was at the August 19th gig at Bristow, Virgina (Nissan Pavillion Amphitheater),which is in the Washington DC metro area. The weather was excellent and the place was packed (13,000). Slash's Snakepit opened the show promptly at 8pm and did a great job. They were energetic and played for 30 minutes. The set included the Guns and Roses classic "Mister Brownstone".AC/DC allowed Slash's band to use the full PA system. They put on a decent, energetic show, but we were there for somebody else!

AC/DC was introduced at 9PM and the boys casually walked out onto the stage. The set list from start to finish went as follows:

1)You shook me all night long
2)Stiff upper lip
3)Shot down in flames
4)Thunderstruck
5)Hell ain't a bad place to be
6)Hard as a rock
7)Shoot to thrill
8)Rock and roll ain't noise pollution
9)Safe in New York City
10)Bad boy boogie
11)Hells Bells
12)Satellite blues
13)The jack
14)Dirty Deeds
15)Back in black
16)Highway to hell
17)Whole lotta rosie
18)Let there be rock
19)TNT
20)For those about to rock

I've been a diehard fan since 78/79 and I'm very picky when it comes to AC/DC. The sound mix on the last tour (Ballbreaker) disappointed me, but this time they had it right and it was a very powerful show.Brian's voice sounded great and held up all night and Angus hit all the notes perfectly and played flawless from start to finish. The show was over at exactly 11pm,making it a two hour set. They had a thirty foot Angus statue similar to the album cover, but different. It consisted of a kneeling Angus with one fist pumped in the air.The fire (pyro) effects during "Highway to hell" were impressive and I laughed my ass off while watching the suggestive clips on the screens during "Hard as a rock".

Angus played a couple of impressive solos and as the night wore on,Angus looked more and more "possessed". The band had newly designed cannons as well.I left the show impressed and thinking that it might just have been the best AC/DC show I had ever seen and I've seen them on six different tours. It was the first time I saw them at an outdoor concert and was concerned with the acoustics, but they came prepared and the sound was impressive.Maybe they fired the mixing board operator from the Ballbreaker tour (ha,ha).Well anyway,it was a great concert and AC/DC still has alot've gas left in their tank. You've got a great gig to look forward to when they hit your shores. It's nice to see that they still have a few surprises left in them and I was definitely pleased that the sound and Brian's voice sounded improved.
