Just got back from San Jose....it's about 2 in the morning,
my ears are ringing, and I am so fucking stoked I can't
even think about sleeping!!! THE SHOW ROCKED...no surprise there...and, I was in heaven. I had seats in the 3rd row on Mal's side and right next to the ramp. When the band came on, I waved my 1979 HTH tour shirt in the air, and Brian pointed at me and smiled. Everything they played was tight, and I took in every note and went wild. 2 hours of pure ecstacy.. After the show, I convinced the other 3 people I was with to wait at the back gate. What started out to be about 25 dwindled down to about a dozen after an hour, but then the buses finally started moving. (That guy with all the buttons was there, and he had his photo album full of pictures) The security guy from the venue tried to move me to the right side of the driveway, but I told him I would go left because that's the side the door is on, and he said the bus wouldn't stop. I said "Oh, yes it will". He took a commanding tone with me and said "THAT bus will NOT stop". And, I said "Sure. Whatever you say", and I stepped to the left. As the bus went by, the tour photographer was standing in the doorway so I held up my shirt, but the bus kept moving slowly forward followed by yet another semi loaded with gear. I watched the bus move very slowly across the street and then saw that it was crawling along the curb so I bolted for it. I got to the door just as it was opening, and a security guy came out and told us all to form a line. Angus came out looking beat, but smiling. He signed some picture for the guy who nearly ran me over to get in front of me, and then came my turn. I held up my shirt, and said thanks for stopping and that I had been a fan for a long, long time. He picked up the bottom of the shirt and read the tour year on it and said "Yeah, you sure have been!" and asked where I wanted it signed. Then, he moved to the person behind me, and a woman offered to take my picture with him. I looked back at Angus' wife who was sitting on the steps of the bus, and she said "Go put your arm around him and get your picture". So, I did. Angus stopped signing and looked up, put his arm around me, and smiled for the photo by reflex. Then I spent the next few minutes talking to Angus' wife( a VERY lovely and gracious woman), and I asked her if Mal was coming out. She said in a bit, that he was talking at the moment. So, we chatted some more a bout the show in 1979 where I bought the shirt and met Angus and Bon and the whole band sitting on the loading ramp waiting for a ride. We laughed about how things had changed alot since then, and I asked again if Mal would be coming out, and she looked back into the bus and said "I'm afraid he's gone to bed". Bummer. About this time, Angus was coming back to the door, and I moved out of the way to let him pass. Just as he was turning to take the first step, I thanked him again for stopping to meet with us and sign stuff when he was so tired. He said he did need to get some sleep so he could do the next show (tonight in Oakland), and I said I'd be going. He smiled and said "Well, then we'll see you there, love" and disappeared into the bus. Oakland, here I come!!! Review by Kathryn
