Plans were laid by Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin) & Paul Rodgers (Free) to form a permanent touring band. Auditions and rehearsels began at London's Nomis studios. Roy Harper's young bass player Tony Franklin , was invited to join and the line up was completed by Chris Slade , who had just completed an American tour with Pink Floyd's Dave Gilmour. The new band was called THE FIRM and Page recruited Atlantic's Phil Carson to take care of business. A debut album was recorded and a world tour was booked.

The Firm made their live debut in Stockholm on November 29th 1984 and after further dates in Scandinavia. The band returned to the UK and played a series of sell out gigs beginning in Middlesbourgh and taking in 2 nights at the Hammersmith odeon.

The live set concentrated on material from the newly recorded debut album , Rodgers 'cut loose' & 'Death wish 2'.

The Firm's debut album called simply 'The Firm' was released on Atlantic in Febuary 1985 and included the tracks Closer , Make or Break , Someone to love , Together , Radioactive You lost that loving feeling , Money can't buy , Satisfaction Gauranteed Midnight Moonlight.

Following the U.S. tour The Firm played further dates in the UK at Birmingham NEC , Edinburgh Playhouse & Wembley Arena. The firm went into the Sol studios and recorded a new album 'Mean Business' . The album was released by Atlantic in April 1986 and tracks were Fortune Hunter , Cadillac , All the King's horses , Live in Peace , Tear down the walls , Dreaming , Free to live , Spirit of love

The second album however was poorly received and after the bands tour finshed in the states The Firm disbanded dur to growing tension between Page & Rodgers.
